The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) announced yesterday it has commenced the 2022 enlistment exercise. The online application portal for the exercise opened yesterday December 19 2022 and will close on January 30, 2023.

“The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has commenced the 2022 enlistment process of suitable qualified graduates and post-graduates as Direct Short Service (DSSC) cadets in various professions. Interested applicants must be Nigerian citizens, single and must be between the ages of 20 and 30 years. Additionally, applicants must possess a minimum qualification of Second Class Upper Division or Upper Credit from recognized Universities, Polytechnics and other tertiary institutions. Candidates should also note that the NYSC discharge certificate is compulsory,” NAF said in a statement.

“The Direct Short Service Commission (DSSC) is a type of commission in the NAF which is open to both civilians and serving military personnel. The Course provides the avenue for the enlistment of degree holders who are professionals in specified fields. Training period for this type of commission is usually 6 months of intensive military training and successful candidates are commissioned into the rank of Flying Officer,” NAF added.

NAF further added that the application is free of charge and interested applicants should apply through the online portal www.nafrecruitment.airforce.mil.ng , noting that NAF has not commissioned any agent or person(s) to carry out any activity related to enlistment into the Nigerian Air Force.

A few days ago, the Air Force Council (AFC) announced the promotion of 57 senior officers including 31 air commodores and 26 group captains. In addition, AFC also announced the terminal promotion of six senior officers comprising five air commodores who were promoted to the rank of Air Vice Marshall and a group captain who was promoted to rank of air commodores.
