The Rotary Club in Sapele has sensitized the public on the need to vote in the forthcoming elections and shun violence.

Rotary club, Sapele Urban, Sapele City Centre, Sapele G.R.A., Sapele Gateway and others came together to carry out the sensitization exercise by moving through major streets in town, distributing flyers to members of the public, sensitizing them on the need to elect the leaders of their choice in the forthcoming elections without violence.

Speaking with the Press, Rotarian Richard Ijakpimi, President of the Rotary Club, Sapele City Centre, said the exercise was necessary to encourage people to cast their votes for the candidates of their choice without resulting in violence.

Ijakpimi enjoined Sapele people to shun collecting money for votes but to vote for persons they were sure would deliver the dividends of democracy to the people.

Rotarian Owen Ejiro, President of Rotary Club, Sapele Gateway, added that the club had been known for peace and would do all within its power to preach peace in the society to promote peace, progress and development.

“Sapele Rotary Club wants Sapele Town and its environs to have peace before, during and after the elections; hence, the need to sensitize the public on the need to maintain the peace and shun all acts of violence during the forthcoming general elections.
