Delta State Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, Mr. Isaiah Bozimo, has said the state’s Ministry of Justice has contributed significantly towards the strategic wealth creation, industrialisation and Infrastructural development of the state.

Bozimo stated this in Asaba during an interactive session between the State Governor, Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa, and the State Counsels in the Ministry of Justice.

The commissioner disclosed that the interactive session was organised to evaluate the activities of the ministry since August 2021 when he assumed office as the Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice.

He said that the ministry had continued to maintain high level of professionalism in providing legal advice to ensure that the state got maximum benefits from its service delivery.

Bozimo stated that since August 2021, the ministry had participated in numerous negotiations, culminating in the execution of several Public- Private Partnership (PPP) agreements for the industrialisation of the state.

The ministry has also made considerable moves towards the realisation of the SMART agenda of the Okowa administration and has always provided vital legal support to the state government and the people of the state, he said.

The Attorney-General noted that as part of its steadfast commitments to ensuring the rule of law in the state, the Ministry of Justice had introduced initiatives to enhance the capabilities and competence of legal officers so as to meet the present and future challenges.

He explained that when he assumed office as Attorney-General, one of his inner drives was to bring out the best in every officer within the ministry, adding that with that goal in mind, the ministry under his watch launched a skill competence framework to ensure that all legal officers received first-rate training in advocacy, advisory work, contract drafting and case management.

He said that through the Department of Legal Drafting, the ministry had drafted and reviewed critical bills to achieve better justice delivery, peaceful and prosperous Delta State.

The Ministry of Justice’s Sexual and Domestic Violence Unit has also remarkably achieved 10 convictions of sexual offenders in Asaba and Kwale judicial divisions, he said, stressing that 91 cases were pending in the national database.

Earlier in his remarks, the State Head of Service, Mr. Reginald Bayoko, who described the Okowa administration as exceptional in service delivery, commended the governor for building a befitting secretariat for civil servants in the state.

He, however, admonished state legal officers and other civil servants in the state to perform their duties with utmost commitments.

On his part, the Chairman of the Law Officers’ Association of Nigeria (LOAN), Ministry of Justice, Asaba Chapter, Mr Moses Onoriode Agwere, thanked the governor for his unwavering interest in the welfare of law officers, saying the initiative of the governor was a pointer that he was interested in effective justice delivery and legal representation.

Agwere stated that the appointment of Mr. Bozimo as the State Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice had tremendous impacts in the justice delivery of the ministry, stressing that the commissioner had brought several reforms and innovations to the ministry.
