The management of Delta State Polytechnic, Ogwashi-Uku has directed students of the institution that own cars, others to register and obtain sticker at the Students Affairs Division.

The management gave the directives through the Dean of Students Affairs, Franklin Agetua, during a meeting at Ogwashi- Uku.

The sticker, according to the management, should be conspicuously glued on the front wind shield, adding that it would be part of routine checks before students with cars were allowed into the campus with effects from 2nd May, 2023.

The dean said that reckless driving on campus was totally prohibited, noting that over speeding among students had taken a dangerous dimension on the account of the improved road network, saying that the campus was not a race course, hence the acceptable speed limit was 20KPH.

Agetua said that violation of the speed limit would attract warning for first offenders, a fine of N10,000 (ten thousand naira) would be paid into the institution’s students affairs account for second offenders, while an outright ban of the vehicles from entering the campus for third offenders.

He said students were not allowed to receive or host visitors on campus except during matriculation and convocation programmes.

The dean said that students were strongly advised to desist from patronizing hawkers, stressing that hawking had been banned on campus (including those selling pamphlets, books in lecture halls without authorization).

He said that the menace of hawking, which according to him had extended into class rooms, would not be condoned by any educational institution of repute as it smacks of indecency and lawlessness just as it contributes to untidy environment.

Agetua urged students to adhere strictly to all management directives, advising that they were in their interest with respect to decency and safety on campus.
