The Edo State Government has completed a two-week onboarding for newly recruited/absorbed officers in the state’s civil/public service. This is part of efforts to acquaint workers in the state with the rules governing the service.

Speaking during the closing ceremony at the John Odigie Oyegun Public Service Academy, the Edo State Head of Service, Anthony Okungbowa Esq., said the state government has continually put measures in place to prioritize the development of the civil/public service for it to be able to deliver on the demands of the 21st century, noting that the civil /public servants are the future and conscience of the service.

The Head of Service noted that the Governor Godwin Obaseki-led state government is committed to sustaining ongoing reforms in the service by populating it with quality manpower and tools to effectively deliver on its role of enhancing development in the state. He said the onboarding programme for new hires is essential to get the officers acquainted with the rules and regulations governing the public service.

Okungbowa admonished participants to key into the government’s policies and programmes governing the service and apply themselves to the various topics learnt and also apply themselves to the rules governing the service.

“The rules serve as a veritable instrument for growth in the public service,” he noted.

During the onboarding programme, participants were placed in different groups to make presentations of various topics taught, like Civil/Public Service Rules, Regulations, Policies and Practices, Change Management, Overview of the Edo State Government, Edo State Transformation and Enhancement Programme, among others.

Speaking on behalf of the participants, Igiebor Kester thanked the state government for the orientation process and said every one of them was now fully equipped to deliver on their assigned duties at their various places of work..
