Edo State House of Assembly on Monday announced two members of the opposition All Progressives Congress (APC) as members of Principal Officers Council.

They are the member representing Owan East, Hon. Eric Okaka, as Minority Leader, and the member representing Orhionmwon East, Hon. Osamwonyi Atu, as Minority Whip.

It would be recalled that the House during the last plenary announced the receipt of letters from PDP, APC and LP for the composition of membership of the Principal Officers Council.

However, the speaker, Rt. Hon. Blessing Agbebaku, read only the letter from the PDP but suspended reading letters from the opposition parties as a result of what he described as unresolved differences.

Meanwhile, after the announcement, Rt. Hon. Agbebaku urged members to work for the common good and benefits of their constituencies and the state in general.

Also during plenary, the House announced the composition of its standing committees. The Speaker chairs selection committee while the Deputy Speaker, Hon. Marie Edekor, heads Tenders board.

Similarly, Rules, business and government house committee, Service committee, Public committee, and Public Accounts are chaired by Hon. Charity Iguodala, Hon Akokhia Abdulganiyu, Hon. Emankhu Isibor, and Hon. Osamwonyi Atu, respectively.

The others are Agriculture and food security, Appreciation and budget and project monitoring, Water resources, Commerce and Industry, Education, and Environment and sustainability are headed, respectively, by Hon. Osamwonyi Kaycee, Hon. Ojiezele Sunday, Hon. Ibhamaw Aigbokhan, Hon. Lucky Mustapha, Hon. Asonsere Nicholas Friday, Hon. Inegbeboh Ojie, and Hon. Oshomah Ahmed.

Committees on Health, Information, Youth and Sport, and Humanitarian Affairs, Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Solid Mineral, Mining, Oil and Gas, Women Affairs, Gender Issues and Social Development, Works and Public Utilities, and Finance and Economic Planning have Hon. Dr. Edosa Osaro, Hon. Okogbe Donald, Hon. Frank Omosigho, Hon. Uzamere Andrew, Hon. Osawaru Natasha, Hon. Iyamu Bright, and Hon. Yekini Idaiye as chairmen.
