The authorities of the Lagos State Police Command, have commenced investigations into same-sex activities, also known as lesbianism practice involving a 20-yr-old Osarugue Iyvonne Osemwingie, and her deceased partner, Ife Sorunke,
The police, however, declared the said Osarugue Iyvonne Osemwingie wanted to enable her face the wrath of her alleged lesbianism practice.
Recalled that the said Osarugue Iyvonne Osemwingie and her deceased partner, Ife Sorunke, were allegedly apprehended in the act, as a neighbour (name withheld) raised alarm that attracted the attention of the area boys on the 3rd of July 2023, in Ogba area of Lagos State.
An eye witness who gave detailed account of how it happened but refused to disclose her identity for fear of being attacked, said that on the fateful day, they were in the compound when their neighbour raised alarm to say that the culprits were practising same-sex relationship, saying the shout drew attention of the area boys who pounced on them and started to beat them since the act was forbidden by both the tradition of the land and the criminal justice system in the country.
The source further said that at the point of them being beaten up to a stupor, Ife Sorunke, the lesbian lover, died in the process of her way to the hospital while she, Osarugue Iyvonne Osemwingie, narrowly escaped before the arrival of the police.
The source added that some of the area boys who descended on the suspects were arrested and were taken into custody to prevent further attacks when the police arrived the scene and others escaped to thin air to avoid questioning.
She noted that though the deceased partner was arrested posthumously and awaiting to be charged to a criminal court posthumously in line with the laid down criminal charges to be preferred against her.
The source explained that due to the gravity of the offence committed, the escaped suspect, Osarugue Iyvonne Osemwingie, had been declared wanted to enable her face prosecution since the criminal justice system in the country had proclaimed 14yrs jail term for such offender, insisting that investigations are still ongoing to unravel the circumstances leading to the practice in the locality.
The police warned all those intending practitioners of the dastardly act, to desist forthwith assuring the law would not close its eyes on such devilish practice.
The police however, urged the members of the public to give any useful information which could lead to arrest and prosecution of Osarugue Iyvonne Osemwingie, who had abruptly escaped.
