The Office of the President of the Senate has warned the public regarding the existence of fake social media accounts on X (formerly Twitter) impersonating Senate President Godswill Akpabio.

These fraudulent accounts, operating under the name “Senate President Godswill Akpabio @oficialGAkpabio” have been found disseminating misleading information about the Senate President’s activities during plenary sessions.

Hon. Eseme Eyiboh, Special Adviser on Media and Publicity and spokesperson to the Senate President, who issued the warning on behalf of Akpabio, pointed out that the official and verified social media accounts of the President of the Senate, Distinguished Senator Godswill Akpabio, are “President of the Senate @SPNigeria”, which serves as the official account of the Office of the President of the Senate, Federal Republic of Nigeria, and “@Senator_Akpabio”, which is his personal account.

He said Senator Akpabio has vehemently denounced the fake social media accounts and urged the public to disregard any information or messages originating from them.

“It is important to note that any social media accounts other than these verified ones are unauthorized and should be treated with suspicion.

“The Senate President is fully aware that these impersonators may be using these fake accounts to spread false news and information with the intention of causing discord and mistrust among the public,” Eyiboh said.

He said Senator Akpabio has reassured the Nigerian people that he remained committed to providing genuine leadership to the 10th Senate and working collaboratively with the government of President Bola Tinubu to advance the Renewed Hope Agenda and bring about positive changes in the country, ensuring that the common man reaps the benefits of good governance.
