Edo State Governor, Mr Godwin Obaseki, has received commendations for approving and encouraging the construction of a housing estate in Iguovbiobo Community, along the Benin-Auchi Road in Edo State.

The Management of Edo State Development and Property Corporation (ESDPC) and Orange Estate Land Developers Nigeria Limited gave the commendations in Benin City during the signing of the Joint Venture Agreement for the development of 108 housing units in the community for the benefit of potential homeowners in the state.

Speaking during the signing ceremony, the Managing Director of ESDPC, Mr John Zedomi, emphasised the desire of Governor Obaseki to continue to provide citizens with affordable accommodation across the state.

Zedomi said in furtherance to this, the ESDPC was readily positioned to seek out experienced and competent partners in and out of the state to develop houses to further reduce the housing deficit in Edo State.

“This is another milestone event as we are signing this Joint Venture Partnership Agreement with Orange Land Developers to build 108 Housing Units in Iguovbiobo Community in Edo State,” Zedomi said.

“Orange Estate has assured us that they are ready, willing, and able to deliver on this project. Despite the NLC and workers’ strike today and the challenges of travel and logistics, they could make this signing ceremony. That underscores their commitment to this project, and we want to celebrate you for that and say we are very expectant and hope that our Joint Venture Partnership will provide both our companies and the state great benefits at the end of the day,” he said.

The Iguovbiobo Housing Estate is expected to have complimentary facilities like CCTV, a central water supply, roads, a central sewage system, an office complex, among others.

In his address during the ceremony, the Project Manager, Orange Estate Land Developers Nig. Limited, Engr. Prince Etumnu, thanked Governor Obaseki for considering their bid for the housing estate and appealed to thFederaGovernment to do the needful and create an enabling environment to stop the increasing costs of building materials. He said this would impact the selling prices of the houses and make them affordable to the low and medium-income earners.

Engr. Etumnu, who represented the Chief Executive of Orange Estate Land Developers, Apoede Atsegbua, said that as a company, they have spent some resources on the preliminary and final architectural and engineering drawings of the project.

“Our key strategy is to build about 50% of the estate, strategically market it and use funds from the sales to complete what would be left in record time,” he said.

He called for efforts to upscale awareness of the coming estate through the mainstream media and other communication platforms.

It would be recalled that during the handing over of the site at Iguovbiobo Community a few months ago, Orange Developers had assured of their readiness to provide funding for the estate as, according to Etumnu, “We have done bigger estates in Abuja and other places and we are quite sure that is what was seen as our records always speak for us.”
