The chairman of Uhunmwode Local Government Council, Honourable Kenneth Osarobo Adodo, has reaffirmed his commitment to the well-being of the people of his local government during the flag-off of polio vaccination programme in the area.
Hon. Kenneth Adodo gave the assurance as ORB/Oral polio vaccination commenced at Arousa Primary school in Uhunmwode Local Government Area of the state. The ORB1 using oral polio vaccine is aimed at preventing polio from affecting children in his local council, according to a press release by kris Enabulele, Chief Press Secretary to the council chairman.
Hon. Osarobo Adodo disclosed that during the exercise, health workers will move from house to house, schools, churches, mosques and other places where children from 0 to 59 months can be found, thereby administering the vaccination comprising 2 drops of oral polio vaccine.
The council boss called on parents and guardians to take their children to health centers for the vaccination as it serves as a booster dose for the children. The council boss said the vaccination exercise is free, safe and effective.
Stressing that the vaccination is not dangerous to the health of children, the vice chairman of the local council, Hon. Bright Egharevba said that local government immunization officers and the representatives of the World Health Organisation (WHO) will be moving about the communities within the local government to administer the vaccine, adding that the polio vaccine, according to WHO, is not harmful but to strengthen the immune system of children from 0 to 59 months.
Hon. Egharevba said the exercise will last for four days, just as the mothers and guardians who brought their children for immunisation on the first day appreciated the council boss.
In another development, Hon Kenneth Osarobo Adodo, the council chairman, has sworn in Lucky Oseye as the Secretary to the Local Government Council, charging him to live above board in the discharge of his assignment.
