The Chairman of Egor Local Government Council, Hon. Eghe Ogbemudia, has launched a new phase in the clean-up of the local government area, seeking the cooperation of residents in her commitment towards fulfilling her promise of making Egor the envy of other LGAs in the state.

The Chairman, who was part of a road walk to sensitize the public on the importance of keeping the environment clean and healthy, noted that a clean environment improves the wellbeing of the people, hence the need for regular environmental sanitation within the locality.

She explained that environmental sanitation had been a major priority in Egor and workers had been deployed to clear up debris and weeds along major roads and markets. She said the new phase of market clean-up should be sustained as any trader caught in the act of indiscriminate refuse disposal would be made to face the law.

Ogbemudia further called on residents to reinstate Saturday’s Local Environmental Sanitation exercise, in view of observing all sanitation directives on proper waste disposal, stressing that taskforce had been deployed to strategic locations and offenders would be charged to mobile court.

The Chairman appealed to members of the public, especially youths in the LGA, to shun vices and all manner of criminality in order to ensure that crime rate in the area is brought down to the barest minimum, adding that all hands must be on deck to ensure that Egor is taken to the next level of development.

She emphasized that security in Egor had been beefed up, as series of meetings had been held with the Edo State vigilantes on strategies for apprehending criminal elements in Egor communities.

She further advised that landlords maintain cordial relationships with their Area Sector Commandants in order to swiftly report criminal or suspicious activities around them.

The Chairman asserted that her administration would set priorities right and make Egor conducive for businesses to thrive, suing for maximum cooperation to make these goals a reality.
