As the 2024 election in Edo State draws near, religious leaders have been enjoined to encourage their members to be interested in who becomes the next governor and refuse to be docile.

The Edo State Commissioner for Youth and Humanitarian Affairs, Hon. Zubeiru Dada Abubakar, who made the appeal during a courtesy visit by the leadership of the Muslim Youth in Politics to his office, said every candidate who wants to serve humanity should be x-rayed.

“This is not the time to be docile and believe that politics is a dirty game. If we are engaged in politics by encouraging like minds, there will be hope in the country and the state in particular.

“I implore and encourage you to be firm and enlighten other like minds to be involved in politics. You have a right to choose who leads you. Since the time table is out, now is the time to help choose who will rule you,” he said.

According to the Commissioner, Edo State governor, Mr. Godwin Obaseki want to finish well and strong, and that involves having a successor that will continue with the achievements of the administration.

He told them to ensure that they emerge as delegates that will nominate candidates and be involved in the campaign process, because when offices are being shared, only those who participated will benefit.
