Edo State Commissioner for Social Development and Gender Issues, Hon.Christabel Omoh Ekwu has received an award for her integrity and stewardship in the service to humanity by Advocacy for Peace and Values Re-orientation Nigeria.

Receiving the award, at the ministry’s premises in Benin City, Hon.Ekwu dedicated the award to Edo State Government and the wife of the Governor, Dr. Mrs Betsy Obaseki for giving her the privilege to serve as a commissioner in the state.

“I would be wrong if I didn’t express my profound gratitude to my boss, the Executive Governor of Edo State, who gave me the opportunity to serve, and our dear mother of the state, Dr Betsy Obaseki for believing and trusting me to pilot the affairs of the Ministry of Social Development and Gender Issues (MSDGI) “.

The commissioner also registered her profound gratitude to Advocacy for Peace and Value Re-orientation for recognizing her unwavering efforts towards her service to humanity and building a sane society, lauding the Obaseki-led administration for its impactful initiatives on family matters whereby family values are prioritized in the state.

Earlier, the Executive Director, Advocacy For Peace and Values Re-orientation, Comr. Abubakar Oyibo described the Commissioner as a selfless personality whose efforts have yielded a lot of results in putting an end to Gender Based Violence in Edo State, encouraging others to emulate the exemplary leadership style of Hon. Ekwu.

Comr. Oyibo also stated that the nomination of Hon. Ekwu was not a mere coincidence, as her work is visible to everyone in Edo State, particularly the vulnerable.

“Our assessment is targeted at outstanding citizens, selfless politicians whose actions and words connote integrity and true service to humanity in effecting positive change in the society”. Oyibo noted.
