…assures of government assistance

Etsako Central Local Government Area Chairman, Hon Solomon Obomighie, has assured the victims of Osemegbe community fire incident that government would do everything humanly possible to ameliorate their suffering as a result of the fire incident that gutted their rice camp and other produce.

The chairman gave the assurance when a team of the council executive members led by the Vice Chairman, Hon Fidelis Agbaza, visited the scene on behalf of the chairman for on-the-spot assessment to ascertained the level of damage done by the fire.

Sympathizing with the victims, he said the fire incident had a significant impact on the people and community itself as it destroyed all farm produce, generators, grinding machines, and other farm equipment belonging to over a hundred farmers, saying the unfortunate incident has caused immense losses to the affected farmers and the local economy.

The chairman however called on the state government, relevant authority, individuals and corporate bodies to come to their rescue as it is well-known fact that the Osomegbe Community in Etsako Central Local Government is one of the major local rice production units in Edo State, known as Osomegbe rice.

Speaking in the same vain, the Secretary to the local government, Chief John Oghiadomhe, consoled the affected farmers, saying, “Our thoughts and prayers go to all the affected farmers and their families, the entire community during this difficult time.”

He assured them that the local government-led by Hon Solomon Obomighie was fully committed to providing necessary support and assistance to help them recover from the unfortunate fire incident.

Chief John Musa, the village head of Osomegbe, appealed to the chairman and the Edo State Emergency Management Agency to see the fire incident as a natural disaster and come to their aids as the fire incident distroyed everything his people had laboured for.
