The Ohanaeze Youth Council, Edo State Chapter has commended Governor Godwin Obaseki’s human capital development reforms for improving the living standard of the people in the state.

This commendation was made by Ezeji Fidelis Nzenwe Ogu, Chairman, Ohanaeze Youth Council, Edo State Chapter during a courtesy visit to the Commissioner for Youth and Humanitarian Affairs, Hon. Zubairu Dada Abubakar in his office in Benin City.

According to the Ohanaeze Youth Chairman, “We have seen the good works His Excellency has done in the state, but it seems that there are misconceptions especially amongst some youths which must be corrected.

“These misconceptions about what the government has done can be corrected when the people see and have firsthand knowledge of what has been done so far.

“The Ohanaeze youths have seen what has been done to foster development and we have come to identify with such quality leadership. We have seen how the policies of Edo Government have affected the people, the reforms in the civil service and the human capital development going on and we want to identify with the government.

“We want to be partners in progress with the state government because this is where we are making a living. We have appealed to our members to be peaceful and contribute to the development of the state by paying their taxes,” he added.

The Commissioner for Youth and Humanitarian Affairs, Hon. Zubairu Dada Abubakar who disclosed that the Ministry is open to collaboration and partnerships to enable the governor finish well and strong said the Ibos are recognized as major stakeholders in Nigeria because they trade and invest wherever they find themselves.

The Commissioner said as partners in progress, the first step for them to be recognized is to ensure that they are registered, renew their registrations and pay their taxes, adding that from there they will be contributing to the development of the state.

“The Governor is very concerned about the pollution and clean environment of the state, therefore you should assist the state government in cleaning the state, not only the debris but the noise pollution. Also ensure there is peace because when there is peace, business strives,” he noted.

In another development, the Commissioner for Youth and Humanitarian Affairs, Hon. Zubairu Abubakar told the executive members of Nigerian Medical Students Association and the National Association of Nigerian Student Nurses and Midwives, University of Benin Chapter who also paid him a courtesy visit to channel their energies positively towards advocating against social vices, such as drug abuse, cultism and cybercrime.
