The Chairman of Etsako West Local Government Area of Edo State, Hon. Muhizu Zibiri Marvellous, has demonstrated his commitment to improving the living standard of the people in the local government area as he performed a ground breaking and foundation laying ceremony for the remodeling of three markets in the area – Uchi, Ughele, and Jattu markets.
The remodeling of these markets is a significant development that will positively impact the economic activities in the local government area.
In his welcome address, the council boss described the flag-off ceremony as a novel feat in the history of the local government, adding that the remodeling of the markets was the first phase in that regard pointing out that plans are on to remodel other markets to bring dividends of democracy to the people of the local government area.
He added that upon his assumption of office as the local government chairman in October last year, he identified teething challenges confronting the people of the area including but not limited to the state of the markets in the various communities with a view to giving them a facelift for the benefit of the people.
Towards this end, the chairman said, the council, in collaboration with Aliade Engineering & Construction Company Limited, a seasoned engineering firm, entered into public private partnership with a view to facilitating a timely execution of the remodeling of Ughele, Uchi and Jattu markets.
He assured that same gesture will be extended to other communities before the expiration of his tenure in 2026, pointing out that his administration had taken a critical look at the abandoned projects in the local government area and would take appropriate steps to ensure that all such projects among those commenced last year are also timely completed including the market projects.
He enumerated some projects completed by his administration to include the abandoned Uchi Primary School and Afashio Primary Health care Centre, among others.
He therefore appealed for the support of traditional rulers, critical stakeholders, youths, market men and women to support the Governor Godwin Obaseki-led administration to bring more development to the area and the entire state.
He admonished the benefitting communities to take ownership of the projects by ensuring that standards are not compromised and any negative observation be reported to his office for immediate action.
While using the occasion to commend the youth in the council area for adhering to wise counsel against the destruction of property during the #EndBad Governance nationwide protest, the LGA chairman appealed to the people in the locality to eschew acts inimical to the smooth execution of infrastructural projects and also leverage the business opportunities the market remodeling projects will provide.
In his speech, a representative of the Otaru of Auchi, thanked the council boss for his exemplary leadership by ensuring the maintenance of law and order in his domain and the entire local government area.
He attributed the success of the chairman to his consultations in the decision-making process and expressed the gratitude of the community for the pilot scheme of the remodeling markets in Auchi metropolis including Jattu markets, and appealed for more projects to be done in the area just as he promised their continued support to the administration of the council as well as the state.
In his remarks, the managing Director Aliade Engineering & Construction Co. Ltd Engr. Adah Ochoechi asserted that experience garnered from the company’s partnership and relationship with Niger State Development Company, the construction of residential buildings in Kaduna State as well as Ondo State Development & Property Corporation in the management of Sunshine Estate in FCT Abuja and being a listed developer with the Federal Mortgage Bank of Nigeria for the provision of cooperative housing to staff of the Auchi Polytechnics shall be put to effective use in the development of the market project in Auchi.
He assured that the company is prepared to deliver quality jobs to the satisfaction of all and promised that the project will be delivered on schedule with international best standards.
