The state government has decided to put an end to Bayelsa FC’s poor form by giving the team a two-match ultimatum for the club to go back to winning ways.
Commissioner for Sports Development, Daniel Igali, in a meeting with the coaches and management of Bayelsa United in Yenagoa, the State capital expressed frustration with the team’s continuous inability to win matches despite huge financial support from the government.
According to him, the two-game ultimatum would start this weekend in Port Harcourt against Rivers United and Katsina United. Failure to secure victories in both games would cause the entire technical crew to lose their jobs, pointing out that any player who does not deserve to be in the team would be given the marching order.
“This team has only two games to get out of position we are now, and if we are not going to do this it will not only affect the technical adviser but entire team. And any player that doesn’t deserve to be in the team will be shown the exit door,” Igali stated.
Bayelsa United were held to a 1-1 draw in their last league game by nine-time champions, Enyimba on Sunday.
The Yenagoa club are rooted in 18th position with 10 points from 10 games on the Nigeria Premier Football League, NPFL, table.
Bosso’s fate will now be decided by the club’s next two games against Rivers United and Katsina United.
