Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to implementing people-friendly policies aimed at driving development and ensuring that citizens and residents benefit from the dividends of democracy.

The governor conveyed this message during the Pentecost Week celebration, themed “The Rebirth of a New Edo,” held at the Government House Chapel.

Represented by the Commissioner for Finance, Hon. Emmanuel Okoebor, Governor Okpebholo highlighted the launch of the SHINE project, designed to accelerate the state’s development.

SHINE stands for Security, Healthcare, Infrastructure, Natural Resources and Agriculture, and Education.

Hon. Okoebor noted that the administration has made tangible progress in enhancing security by equipping security agencies with the necessary tools to better safeguard the state.

He further outlined achievements across healthcare, infrastructure, agriculture, and education.

“The governor is currently constructing 170 kilometres of roads across the three Senatorial Districts, building the state’s first-ever flyover, and has secured cabinet approval for a second flyover,” he stated.

He also pointed to ongoing efforts to strengthen agriculture and bolster food security, revealing that 13 tractors have been procured and distributed across the state’s three Senatorial Districts.

Also speaking at the event, the Special Adviser on Media Projects and Strategy, Hon. Godswill Enegbe, praised Governor Okpebholo’s leadership style, describing it as impactful and transformative.

“Edo State has never been this blessed under any past administration. The governor is open about his Christian faith and is not ashamed to declare that he is a born-again Christian.

“The Government House Chapel is constantly active because Governor Okpebholo is a man of faith who leads with divine guidance,” Hon. Enegbe said.

The Chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Edo State Chapter, Apostle General Dr Irekpono Omoike, lauded the governor for hosting the spiritual event and for seeking divine direction for the state’s future.

“God will guide the affairs of Edo State. The governor and his cabinet will not fail but will succeed, so the people of Edo can reap the benefits of this administration,” he said.

In his welcome address, the Special Adviser on Religious Matters and Chaplain of the Government House Chapel, Apostle Sule Farade, encouraged attendees to continue praying for the state’s leadership.

“The new Edo is being shaped by principles of righteousness and justice. We call on all Edo people, Christians and non-Christians alike to pray for Senator Monday Okpebholo’s administration and for wisdom for both religious and traditional leaders across the state,” Apostle Farade said.
