BENIN CITY – Edo State Governor, Mr. Monday Okpebholo, has described the defection of Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) as a bold and historic decision that will unlock new development opportunities for the South-South region.

In a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Fred Itua, Governor Okpebholo congratulated Governor Eno on his political move, which he said reflected a clear commitment to the progress of Akwa Ibom and alignment with the national vision of the APC-led Federal Government.

“The decision by Governor Umo Eno to join the APC shows his foresight and dedication to the welfare of his people,” Okpebholo stated. “It signifies a strategic alignment that will undoubtedly unlock greater opportunities, foster stronger collaborations, and accelerate the delivery of democratic dividends to the good people of Akwa Ibom State.”

Governor Okpebholo emphasized that stronger synergy between the states and the Federal Government was critical for sustainable national development. He expressed confidence that Eno’s move would bolster the APC’s strength in the South-South and contribute meaningfully to national unity.

He further assured Governor Eno of the full support and partnership of the Edo State Government and the broader APC family, pledging to work closely with him in promoting good governance, economic development, and the general well-being of Nigerians.

Governor Okpebholo concluded by commending the spirit of political maturity and inclusiveness shown by Governor Eno, which he said was in line with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
