The Edo State Office of the Head of Service has held the maiden edition of its “Best Staff of the Month” award, honouring three outstanding officers for exceptional service delivery.

At the event held at the Government House, Mr. Enehikhare Akenzuwa emerged as the overall winner, while Mr. Ben Otamere, Esq., and Mr. Victory Aganmwonyi were named first and second runners-up respectively.

The Head of Service, Dr. Anthony Okungbowa, explained that the initiative aims to promote excellence and consistent performance in the civil service, noting that while the award includes a cash prize, its primary purpose is recognition and encouragement.

“We want to build a culture of high performance. This monthly recognition is a way to say ‘thank you’ to those going the extra mile,” Dr. Okungbowa said, urging other staff to stay motivated.

The Permanent Secretary, Directorate of General Services, Barr. Priscilla Aziegbemhin, commended the initiative, noting the rigorous selection process, while Director of Shared Services, Mr. Oaikhena Edionnweme, emphasized that the selection was merit-based.

The Edo State NLC representative, Mr. Kingsley Ireotoi, praised the Head of Service for prioritizing staff welfare and promoting workplace motivation.
