… speaks on party’s chances in 2027

As political parties justle to elect their respective candidates ahead of the 2027 elections, Samuel Abuya has described the peace that characterised the African Democratic Congress, ADC primaries in Edo state as a reflection of the entrenched internal democratic culture within the party.

Abuya who is the ADC Youth leader in Edo State spoke in Benin against the backdrop of the camaraderie and love showed by aspirants who vied for the various elective positions during the party’s primaries. He said, that could only be possible because of the collective wish to fill the leadership gap in the governance of the nation.

Added to this, he said, was the mutual respect among members of the party in the midst of growing expectation among Nigerians for a party that has offered a purpose driven path towards the country’s growth and development.

This he said, led to the rancour free primaries that saw those who won at various levels of contest, embracing those who weren’t successful, thus creating an unprecedented peaceful political atmosphere ahead of the general polls next year.

According to him, “aspirants who were victorious were very happy. Those who lost too were equally happy having seen that the exercises were free and fair. This is attributable to the maturity of the leaders in the party and above all, the trust they have in the internal democracy mechanisms where every voice counts”.

Speaking on the mission statement of the ADC to rescue Nigeria from the present hash economy, Abuya said the was party was ready to deliver on its mission if given the chance by the voting public.

He appealed to Nigerians to be patient and keep hope alive, stating that his party that has got a clear vision of the challenges facing the country has developed a potent antidote to solving them.

“There is no doubt that the suffering is much. I think Nigerians have bore enough of the current hardship, I think the time is ripe for us as a nation to try and alternative platform in the governance of the country.

The ADC Abuya said, offers that alternative given its disposition to participatory governance that puts the interest of the people first.

He commended the state chairman of the party, Mr Tony Alile whom he said had shown intelligence and pragmatism in leadership by carrying every one along in the management of the affairs of the party in the state.

He said that the chairman’s leadership style was the tonic needed by the youth leadership across the 18 Local Government areas in the state to mobilize support for the party to achieve victory in all future elections.
