The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has made the Preliminary Register of Voters for the 2027 general elections available online following concerns from Nigerians and other stakeholders over access to the document.
The Commission announced that the register can now be accessed through its dedicated portal, https://display.inecnigeria.org, in addition to the physical display previously conducted nationwide.
In a statement, Mohammed Kudu Haruna, National Commissioner and Chairman of INEC’s Information and Voter Education Committee, said the online publication was intended to widen public access and strengthen transparency in the electoral process.
The physical display exercise was conducted at Registration Areas across the country from October 9 to 15, 2026, in accordance with Section 19 of the Electoral Act, 2026.
The exercise allowed registered voters to verify their personal details and submit claims and objections where necessary, as provided by law.
INEC said the decision to publish the preliminary register online followed concerns raised by citizens and stakeholders about the accessibility of the document.
According to the Commission, the online platform complements the physical verification exercise and is expected to promote transparency, accessibility and public confidence ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The electoral body said it was processing claims and objections received during the exercise before certifying and publishing the Final Register of Voters.
INEC scheduled the publication of the final register for December 15, 2026.
The Commission reiterated its commitment to transparency, accountability and compliance with the Electoral Act, 2026, as preparations continue for the 2027 polls.
Registered voters can visit the INEC portal to check their details and identify any errors requiring correction through the appropriate procedures.
