The rate of inhumanity to man (women inclusive), in Nigeria has reached a worrisome dimension as hardly a day without hearing of the menace in The society. The scourge is so rampant that it is being perpetuated in all the sphere of life in the country.
Painfully, there is inhumanity to man in Churches, Mosques, market places, Schools, Government, sports, and many others facets of life. But there is a fundamental human rights enshrined in Section 36-39 of Nigeria’s 1999 Constitution which includes the right to life, association and worship.
It is so disheartening that some churches harbour hatreds for their fellow christians for merely leaving their churches for others. This pathetic situation is not only limited to the churches but also in other places of worship including associations whose membership ordinarily are supposed to be voluntary.
One can commonly see these days a situation where a fraternal group will be after the life of their former members who renounce their memberships and embrace other faith. This is the focal point of this write-up.
The scourge is very prevalent in Edo State to the extent that there is hardly a family in Benin City, the Edo State Capital without one or more than one tales of byforce occultic membership
A case in point is the family of one Imadegbelo Owamen, whose mother was gruesomely murdered by assassins, suspected to have been hired by the deceased’s former secret cult group following her withdrawal from them.

It was gathered that the deceased mother, Omamuwu Imadegbelo got into trouble with her former group, when she decided to withdraw her membership for another group of her choice.
The deceased woman was said to have received several death threat messages until the faithful June 12, 2014, when she was allegedly gunned down by a 4-member armed gang. The case was reported to the Police, but nothing possible came out of the case from the police as I write now.
Another case in point is that of the gruesomely murder of Mr. Ogbeide Anthony, his wife Mrs. Helen Ogbeide and two children (Ogbeide Loveth and Ogbeide Peter), by persons suspected to be members of an occultic group. But Ogbeide Miracle Folashade, who is now the only surviving child of the family was said to have cheated death in the hands of the assassins by whiskers.
But her escape according to findings, never saved her predicament as she was reportedly hit by a moving vehicle while escaping from the gunmen.
The dastard incident which investigation revealed occurred on January 15, 2016 was said to have caused pandemonium and apprehension amongst residents of the Late Ogbeides’ area in Benin City.
It was scooped that trouble started when the Late. Ogbeide Anthony, decided to renounce his membership in the occultic group, following his new embraced Christian faith. This development, multiple sources said never went down well with members of the group, who vehemently opposed his decision, hence, a battle line was drawn between them.
However, not relenting in their avow determination to wipe out the entire Ogbeide’s family from the surface of the earth, the hoodlum allegedly invaded Folashade’s hideout with the intent to kill her. Her safety nor whereabouts could not be ascertained by the people as at the time of this report.
There are many other family who have also suffered safe fate with that of Ogbeide and presently lamenting their ordeal secretly over fear of the unknown in Edo State and Nigeria at large.
At this juncture, the Federal Government and other International communities should come to the rescue of these innocent Nigerians whose fundamental human rights are being abused/violated by these daredevil occultic groups
