AFUZE – A horrifying attack by armed Fulani herdsmen, suspected to be linked to the Boko Haram insurgency, has left a trail of devastation in the quiet communities of Eme Ora and its surroundings, located in Owan West Local Government Area (LGA) of Edo State.

The incident, which occurred on the 15th of June 2019, resulted in the loss of seven innocent lives, numerous injuries, and the brutalization of women and girls.

The assailants launched a violent assault on these communities, catching the residents off guard. Several homes and farmlands were destoyed and set ablaze as panic and chaos ensued.

Eyewitnesses reported that several women and girls were subjected to heinous acts of sexual violence during the attack, further adding to the trauma experienced by the affected families.

The attack has left the communities of Eme Ora and its surroundings in a state of shock and mourning. Local authorities and security agencies have been alerted to the situation, and investigations into the incident are ongoing.

The affected communities are also in dire need of humanitarian assistance to help them rebuild their lives and heal from the traumatic events they have endured.
