…Appeal to relevant authorities to rescue her
A widow, Mrs. Lovina Nnadi has cries out calling on relevant authorities, concerned Nigerians and the international Communities to come to the aid of her family as her daughter one Nancy Ndidi Nnadi has been forced into an arrange marriage against her wish by his late husband brother (brother in-law).
The brother in-law identified as Chief Osita Orji Nnadi has been playing fatherly role to the children of his late brother for years before eventually turning round to allegedly marry off Nancy Ndidi Nnadi to his longtime friend and business partner Chief Emenike Lawrence.
The mother of the said girl Mrs. Lovina Nnadi has appealed to the general public to come to the rescue of her daughter who is passing through hell in the marriage, noting that her heart is heavy following the action of her brother in-law.
She added that the said brother in-law Chief Osita Orji Nnadi who ought to be the head of the family after the death of her husband has turned around to betray the family with his selfish action as Nancy may become trumatize which may lead to permanent disability if allowed to continue.
Mrs. Lovina Nnadi noted that trouble started one faithful morning in October 2019 when he walked up to her to informed her of his intension for her daughter as the family is struggling to survive.
He noted that his friend Chief Emenike Lawrence, is interested in Nancy Ndidi Nnadi and it’s a good idea to allow her marry as the intended husband is a rich business man who will support the family when he becomes in-law to the family.
“That news broke my heart and though it was a joke but gradually he put pressure on me and persuaded other family members through money and several gifts untill they join to support his plans while I was left alone to fight the issue.
“For three months, I fought to stop the arranged marriage, resisted him but eventually she was forced into the marriage against my approval by her uncle Chief Osita Orji Nnadi on 31st January 2020 at Omunwei in Igwuruta Ikwerre Local Governments Area in Rivers State.
“Her marriage was the worse treatment given to her because she married a man old enough to be her father. She married a man that loves to torment, harassed, violate and dehumanize her. No loving husband will do what Chief Emenike Lawrence is doing to my daughter, his wife Nancy Ndidi Nnadi. She married against her wish and passing through a lot in the marriage.
“My daughter cried of the maltreatment she is receiving from her husband who forcefully raped her in front of her little daughter several times not minding the phycological effect of his actions. She said her daughter complained of dehumanizing treatment from her husband who beat her and lock her up at any provocation. Her life and that of her daughter is no longer safe with Chief Emenike Lawrence”.
Mrs. Nnadi with tears in her eyes explained to journalist that since January 2020 she has been appealing for help, she has reported the issues to Civil society Organisation, security operatives, concerned Nigerians who could not help her because Chief Emenike Lawrence has bought them over giving them money to stay off the matter. “Am a widow, a poor one at that and no body is ready to help me despite my appeal as my daughter is suffering in the marriage.
‘”You journalist are my last hope on this matter, please help me tell the World what my daughter is going through, I may die from the pain of this arranged marriage. I can’t even reach my daughter anymore and don’t know how she is coping with the marriage now. Please tell my story to the World and rescue my daughter, Nancy Ndidi Nnadi”.
