The barbaric murder triggered a mob attack on the fleeing Boko-Haram captive identified as one Jacob Nosa Gold.

An Irish Reverend Sister in the Community rescued him from the aggression of the villagers who accused Jacob Nosa Gold of attracting death to their village head.

The Reverend Sister who spoke on the condition of anonymity apparently for fear of being killed like the village head narrated that Jacob Nosa Gold’s case is peculiar and sympathetic.

She stated that Jacob Nosa Gold confided in her that he has been in Boko-Haram camp for over eight years when they abducted him after he survived the July 29, 2013 Christ Salvation Pentecostal Church mindless bomb attack in Kano which claimed several lives of worshippers.

The Reverend Sister explained further that Jacob Nosa Gold escaped was made possible when the Nigeria army stormed Sambisa forest to dislodge the Boko-Haram fighters on May 10, 2021.

“Imagine a man who sustained injuries, lost relatives in the bomb attack was taken away to a forest where medical facilities are unavailable. Besides, his captors subjected him to various inhuman treatment.

“While fleeing the terrorist camp, he sought refuge in Zambramari Jere, where fear-stricken villagers rejected him out rightly but assisted his escape to God-knows location.

“Jacob Nosa Gold revealed to me that his journey to his present ordeal started in July 2013 when he was deceived into participating in Boko-Haram recruitment exercise in an effort to join the Nigeria army. Right now he has lost contact with friends and family members. Henceforth, the mission is going to help him live trouble-free life”, the Reverend Sister assured.

Contacted, the spokesman, 3rd Brigade Nigerian Army Captain Njoko Irabor said the Nigerian army is aware of terrorist groups faking its recruitment to lure unsuspecting youths into criminal gangs.

“We have been warning and the army will continue to warn the public to be wary of such clandestine recruitment.

“The case of one Jacob Nosa Gold whose escape led to the beheading of the head of Askira district is quite sad and unfortunate. Our fight against violent crime of that nature is total and continuous”, Captain Njoko Irabor noted.
