The Edo State Transport Authority (ESTA) has reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening transportation services in the state through enhanced collaboration with the Edo State Traffic Management Agency (EDSTMA) and the Edo City Transport Service (ECTS).
This move aligns with Governor Senator Monday Okpebholo’s vision of an efficient, safe, and structured transport system that supports economic revitalization.
Hon. Henshew Oligbi, the Managing Director of ESTA, made this commitment during an official visit to EDSTMA and ECTS, where he assessed their progress, addressed key challenges, and reinforced the need for sustainable partnerships.
At EDSTMA, Oligbi emphasized the importance of continued cooperation to improve traffic management and ensure road safety, stating, “We are here to understand the progress made so far, where you currently stand, and the direction you intend to go under this administration.
“We also seek to renew the longstanding relationship between the Transport Authority and EDSTMA.”
He highlighted Governor Okpebholo’s dedication to road infrastructure development, noting that a well-structured transport system is crucial to economic growth.
He urged EDSTMA officers to enforce regulations with a balance of firmness and empathy while advocating for a review of traffic laws to ensure effective enforcement.
Acknowledging EDSTMA’s impact, he expressed confidence in the leadership of Barr. Stainless Mike Ijiogbe Ijiegede, urging the agency to maintain its high standards.
Barr. Ijiegede welcomed ESTA’s renewed support, assuring that EDSTMA remains committed to efficient traffic management, strict enforcement of road regulations, and improved road safety.
He pledged to work closely with ESTA to build a well-regulated transport system.
During his visit to ECTS, Oligbi reaffirmed ESTA’s dedication to improving public transportation services, ensuring they remain efficient, reliable, and affordable for residents.
To facilitate smooth operations and effective decision-making, he instructed the ECTS management team to submit weekly reports to ESTA.
He explained that these reports would help monitor progress, identify challenges, and enable timely recommendations for government interventions.
Barr. Festus Ehiemua, Operations Manager of ECTS, commended Oligbi’s proactive leadership, outlining the agency’s achievements and progress.
He also appealed for ESTA’s support in communicating the transport service’s challenges to the state government for swift resolution.
The visit underscored a shared commitment among ESTA, EDSTMA, and ECTS to drive Edo State’s transportation sector forward through strategic collaboration, innovative traffic solutions, and efficient road management.
