The current communal crisis rocketing Obayantor community in lkpoba – Okha local govt. Area of Edo state has taken a frightened dimension as some innocent citizens of the area have been reportedly killed, houses burnt while several indigenes of has taken to their heels for safety.
Investigation by this reporter revealed that trouble started when the former chairman of the community by name Osato was removed as the leader of the area by the elders haven forcefully assumed office initially as the chairman of the place.
It was equally revealed that some of the fleeing indigenes including Mr Friday Osamudiamen were last seen in Nigeria on March 15th, 2022 following threat to their lives as a result of the crisis that rocked the community.
This paper further discovered that there was a man called Osato in the community who allegedly forcefully took up the chairmanship position of the area and later started behavouring as lords in the community thereby leading to conflict of interest between him Osato and elders of the area until they (elders) re – organized themselves to drop him from the chairmanship position.
Haven toppled him (osato) brother who is one of the fleeing indigenes of the area was unanimously agreed upon by the elders to replace him (Osato) but this didn’t go down well with Osato.
It was also learnt that the replacement of mr osato degenerated into conflict between both parties in the community with unknown gunmen who were on fake soldier uniform allegedly sponsored by the former chairman (osato) invading the community shooting sporadically at everyone leading to the death of some innocent citizens, houses burnt why there was a manhunt launched for Mr Friday Osamudiamen and some others who later flee for safety to unknown destination.
