Atiku Isah, the factional president of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), has recanted a series of explosive allegations against Seyi Tinubu, son of President Bola Tinubu, admitting the claims were untrue and influenced by misinformation.
Isah had earlier accused Seyi Tinubu and the Minister of Youth Development, Ayodele Olawande, of offering him a N100 million bribe in Lagos to promote the President—a claim Seyi Tinubu publicly denied.
The student leader also alleged he was abducted, stripped naked, and assaulted on 15 April for rejecting the offer.
However, in a statement posted to his Facebook page, titled “Setting the Records Straight/Public Apology to Seyi Tinubu”, Isah said those allegations were based on false narratives provided by Olusola Ladoja, a rival factional leader within NANS. He claimed Ladoja deliberately misled him to discredit and oust him from the office.
“In the video, I also alleged that, for what they considered my stubbornness to reject their N100 million, I was abducted, stripped naked, and beaten on 15 April 2025.
“In connivance with the MD of the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA), I was taken to the station where a coerced statement, supposedly relinquishing my position, was recorded,” Isah wrote.
He clarified that the alleged N100 million offer to support President Tinubu never occurred, and said Ladoja fed him lies in a bid to seize control of the student body.
According to Isah, it was Ladoja who told him that Seyi Tinubu could have him killed and the case covered up by police authorities. He also admitted that his previous claim that Seyi Tinubu led thugs to his inauguration venue was false.
“I made these claims because of the image of Seyi Tinubu painted to me by Ladoja Olusola, who swore Seyi was determined to stop me from completing my tenure as NANS President,” he said. “In fact, I later discovered that Mr Seyi was nowhere near the venue.”
