BENIN CITY – Edo State Deputy Governor, Hon. Dennis Idahosa on Monday ordered the immediate installation of solar power at the Aruogba Clinic in Benin City to strengthen primary healthcare service delivery at the community level.
Idahosa, who inspected the facility in company of the Commissioner for Health, Dr. Cyril Oshiomhole, and officials of the National Primary Health Care Development Agency (NPHCDA), said the intervention was in line with the SHINE Agenda of Governor Monday Okpebholo.
“We are here to ensure that health facilities closest to the people are well equipped so that Edo people enjoy the health benefits promised by the Governor,” he said.
The deputy governor praised the staff of the centre for their dedication, noting that accessibility to the facility was impressive.
He disclosed that the government would carry out similar inspections across the state, promising corrective measures within twenty-four hours where necessary.
Dr. Oshiomhole explained that the visit underscored the government’s commitment to accessibility, affordability, and availability of healthcare.
e pointed out that essential drugs, including malaria treatment, were available free of charge, while antenatal and basic delivery services were also free.
Board Chairman of the State Primary Healthcare Development Agency, Dr. Odiase Ehiabhi, said the facility had significantly reduced under-five mortality and maternal deaths.
Executive Secretary of the Agency, Dr. Coulson Osoikhai Oahimire, added that the clinic had continued to provide quality services to the surrounding communities
