Warri: The Delta State Police Command has strongly condemned the alleged sexual assault and harassment of young women, as depicted in disturbing videos from Oramudu Quarters in Ozoro, Isoko North Local Government Area.

The footage, said to have been recorded during a local event, prompted the Commissioner of Police, CP Aina Adesola, to order an immediate and thorough investigation.

In a statement released on Friday by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Bright Edafe, police confirmed the arrest of the chief organiser, Chief Omorede Sunday, alongside four others. The community head of Oramudu and five additional suspects have also been taken into custody.

The Commissioner has directed that the matter be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for a detailed probe. Tactical and investigative units have been deployed to identify, apprehend, and prosecute all those involved.

The Command described the acts as criminal, inhumane, and a serious violation of the victims’ fundamental rights and dignity, stressing that such conduct will not be tolerated.

“The Command unequivocally condemns such acts in their entirety,” the statement read. “Sexual violence is criminal, inhumane, and a grave violation of the fundamental rights and dignity of victims.”

Authorities have called on members of the public, particularly victims and witnesses, to come forward with useful information, assuring that all reports will be treated with strict confidentiality and professionalism.

CP Aina Adesola also urged residents to remain calm, vigilant, and law-abiding, while reaffirming the Command’s commitment to protecting lives, safeguarding citizens’ rights, and maintaining public order.

The Command further assured that all those involved in what it described as “reprehensible acts” will be brought to justice in accordance with the law.
