BENIN CITY — The Edo State House of Assembly on Monday confirmed receipt of a letter from Governor Monday Okpebholo, requesting the screening and confirmation of Engr. Onobayo Osekheumho as Executive Director (Projects) of the Edo State Ecological Funding and Management Commission.
The letter, dated March 17, was read during plenary by the Speaker, Mr Blessing Agbebaku.
In a related development, the House rescheduled its invitation to the Benin Electricity Distribution Company (BEDC), directing the company to appear before lawmakers on April 13, 2026.
Agbebaku said the decision to summon the electricity distribution firm followed persistent power outages across the state, despite what he described as high billing of consumers for services not rendered.
He noted that the appearance of BEDC’s management would provide an opportunity for engagement with lawmakers and help chart a way forward in addressing the lingering electricity supply challenges.
The House also considered and passed several bills and petitions during the sitting.
Among the measures approved was a bill amending the Edo State Lottery Law to provide for the establishment of the Edo State Lottery Regulatory Commission and the Edo Lottery Trust Fund, 2025, alongside other related matters.
