Rivers United head coach Finidi George is targeting an early goal when his side hosts Ivorian club San Pedro in the second leg of their CAF Champions League encounter, BSNSports.com.ng reports.
The Pride of Rivers were held to a 1-1 draw by San Pedro in the first leg, leaving the tie finely poised ahead of the return fixture.
Finidi acknowledged the quality of the Ivorian side but expressed confidence in his team’s approach to the decisive second leg.
“We knew their strengths and they are a very good side,” Finidi said.
“We are not going to play for a draw. We are targeting a victory, and we are focused on scoring an early goal to kill off the game.”
Rivers United will need to secure a positive result in the return leg to advance to the next stage of the competition.
