BENIN CITY — As the Benin Kingdom celebrates a decade of the reign of its revered monarch, His Royal Majesty, Omo N’Oba N’Edo Uku Akpolokpolo, Oba Ewuare II, Hon. Osarodion Osagie, Senior Special Assistant to Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, on Diaspora Matters, is set to host an All-White Party to honour the monarch and promote the kingdom’s rich cultural heritage.

The event, scheduled for Sunday, November 1, 2026, in Benin City, is being organised by Osagie, Founder of the Godsent Foundation, as part of activities celebrating the 10th anniversary of Oba Ewuare II’s coronation.

Beyond the glamour of the occasion, the party is expected to provide a platform for cultural appreciation, unity and the reaffirmation of the Benin people’s enduring respect for their traditional institution at a time when preserving indigenous heritage and strengthening intergenerational cultural values remain imperative.

For Osagie, the celebration goes beyond paying tribute to the Oba; it represents a responsibility to honour the custodians of the kingdom’s history, preserve its identity and ensure that younger generations appreciate the cultural values inherited from their forebears.

Speaking on the significance of the event, Osagie stressed the importance of celebrating the monarch, noting that honouring the older generation sets an example for those coming behind.

“If we don’t celebrate our father, our children won’t celebrate us,” he said.

He explained that the 10th coronation anniversary offers an important opportunity for the people of Benin Kingdom, at home and in the diaspora, to demonstrate their appreciation for the monarch and the traditional institution he represents.

According to him, the preservation of cultural heritage requires deliberate efforts by individuals, families, community leaders and organisations to celebrate their history and pass its values to future generations.

“We must celebrate our father, honour our traditional institution and promote our rich cultural heritage. Our identity is part of our legacy, and we must preserve it for our children and generations yet unborn,” Osagie emphasised.

The Edo governor’s aide further noted that occasions such as the anniversary provide opportunities to strengthen unity, deepen cultural consciousness and encourage collective pride in the history and traditions of the Benin Kingdom.

“At a time when our society needs greater unity and a stronger connection with its cultural roots, this celebration is a reminder that our heritage must never be taken for granted. We owe it to ourselves and future generations to keep our traditions alive,” he added.

The All-White Party is expected to attract guests, friends, associates and well-wishers who will join Osagie in celebrating the revered monarch’s decade-long reign.

Guests are expected to dress in white in keeping with the theme of the occasion, which promises an atmosphere of fellowship, celebration and cultural pride.

The event forms part of the wider activities marking Oba Ewuare II’s 10th coronation anniversary, offering an opportunity to reflect on the enduring significance of the Benin monarchy and its place in the history, identity and cultural development of Edo State.

For Osagie, the celebration is both a tribute to the Oba and a call for sustained commitment to preserving the heritage that binds the Benin people together.
