Abuja – The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) said no fewer than 15 persons died while 41 others were injured, following the explosions in Nyanya and Kuje in FCT.

This is contained in a statement signed by Mr Sani Datti, Senior Information Officer, NEMA, on Saturday in Abuja.

It disclosed that in Nyanya, 2 persons died with 21 injured while in Kuje, 13 lost their lives and 20 injured.

According to the statement, the injured persons have been evacuated and taken to the Nyanya, Asokoro General Hospitals and the National Hospital, Abuja.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the blasts occurred almost simultaneously on Oct. 2 at about 10.30 p.m. in both areas.

The Nyanaya blast happened at the same bus station that was hit by insurgents twice in 2014 while the Kuje blast happened near a police station.

Abuja – A bomb blast on Friday evening in Nyanya, a suburb of the Federal Capital Territory ( FCT) has killed two persons and injured 19.

Mr Ishaya Chonoko, Coordinator of NEMA Abuja operations, who confirmed the figure, said the corpses of the two dead persons and one critically injured person were taken to the Asokoro general hospital.

He said that the remaining 18 persons were receiving treatment at the Nyanya general hospital.

“We have confirmed that 18 persons, who sustained injuries, are receiving treatment at the Nyanya General hospital.

“Two persons that were confirmed dead were taken to the Asokoro General hospital,”he said.

Chonoko said that another blast, that earlier took place in Kuje Area council of the FCT, also recorded 13 dead and 20 injured.

The FCT Commissioner of Police, Mr Wilson Inalegwu also confirmed the bomb blasts.
