BENIN CITY – A magistrate court sitting in Benin City has sentenced a young man, Larry Immasohe to 14 years imprisonment for same sex crime.
The Prosecutor, Sergeant Phillip Ake told the court that, Larry Immasohe, 29, committed the offence in the wee hours of the morning of November 14, last year with his male partner, Onaiwu Osagie Paul, 24 (who is still at large) at an isolated area inside a car at a popular night club along Airport Road, in Benin City.
It was gathered that Larry, who has been in awaiting trial cell since the incident last year was finally convicted for the abominable homosexual crime. His partner, Paul escaped through the help of a friend, Nelson Momondo.
Nelson who was also arrested for same sex offence, his still in awaiting trial cell.
The offence according to Ake contravenes Chapter 77, Section 214 of the Criminal Code Act Laws of the Federation of Nigeria, 1990.
Paul is still on the wanted list of the police and the youth in Ogbe Community in Benin where the abominable homosexual act took place.
Homosexuality is a taboo and abomination in Edo land and Nigeria. The devilish act according to the people brings bad luck, famine and sickness to the land.
Anybody involved in the act is considered an evil person. The crime is a federal offence.
The Magistrate, Mrs. Biola Gbenedion said that the accused is a disgrace to the society and that the maximum sentence was given to serve as a warning to others.
