ENUGU-A homosexual suspect, one Prince Nnamdi, who is currently on trial for allegedly committing a criminal act of having sexual intercourse with a fellow male called Ogbonna Kanu male and 14 other prison inmates on Tuesday night escaped from Nsukka prison.
The jail break took place between the hours of 12:00am and 3:00am.
A reliable source at Nsukka prison, who pleaded anonymity, said the inmates tactfully or forcefully break the cell without the knowledge of the warders who were on night duty and scaled through the perimeter fence of the prison.
Prince Nnamdi, residing at No 8 Ogui road Enugu, Enugu State, is facing trial at the Magistrate court, Nsukka in Enugu state since he was charged to the Magistrates court in march 18, 2016 on two count charge of having unlawful sexual intercourse with a fellow male called Ogbonna Kanu male causing him bodily harm in the anus as well as committing a sacrilege in Igbo land.
The escape of Prince Nnamdi from Prisons’ custody has worsened his case and the prisons officers are still trying to know his whereabouts as all successive efforts to re-arrest him proved abortive.
Though prisons authorities, including Lawrence Okonkwo, confirmed the jail break, information available to The NIGERIAN OBSERVER showed that Prince Nnamdi was returned safely from the Magistrates court to the prison custody after hearing of his case of homosexuality was adjourned till October, 30, 2016.
It could not authoritatively ascertained if any escapee had been re-arrested. It was gathered that nemesis caught up with Prince Nnamdi when, on march 14 2016 at about 1500 hours, a case of indecent practice of homosexuality between Prince Nnamdi and Ogbonna Kanu was reported at central police station Enugu, by one Emeka Kanu father of the victim.
THE NIGERIAN OBSERVER learnt that Emeka kanu alleged that Prince Nnamdi on March 14, 2016, invited Ogbonna Kanu (male) son of the complainant Emeka Kanu, to his room and had unlawful carnal knowledge of the victim Ogbonna Kanu.
Further investigation by The NIGERIAN OBSERVER revealed that Prince Nnamdi and the victim. Ogbonna Kanu made their statement respectively to the police and Prince Nnamdi admitted and confessed to his unlawful and abominable act of homosexuality.
Consequently, the police and the prison authorities have declared Prince Nnamdi wanted.
According to the police, any person with useful information that could lead to the arrest of Prince Nnamdi should report to the nearest police station.
Prince Nnamdi’s case is made worse because the Igbo community has vowed to offer him as a sacrifice to the gods in order to cleans the land of the abomination he has committed.
