BENIN CITY – Barely few weeks after the gruesome assassination of Mr. Samuel Ukponmwan by unknown gunmen, the residents of the late Pa Ukponmwan have again been attacked with the wife of the deceased, Mrs. Kate Ukponmwan badly injured with gun shots.
Reports told our correspondent that “on the 25th day of July, exactly two (2) weeks after Pa Ukponmwan was killed by gunmen, another set of assassins visited the family House at No. 6 Akenzua Street, Off I Care Centre Way, in Egor Local Government Area, Benin City, Edo State, even when the burial arrangements of her husband, the deceased is yet to be concluded by the family.
“On July 25, 2016, the gunmen attacked us again”. An eye witness told our reporter that the assassins started shooting sporadically into the apartment with the purpose to kill everybody in the house. They met only the wife of the deceased and continue to ask after her son Mr. Fredrick, who also is the son of the deceased.
Meanwhile, the family of late Pa Ukponmwan are calling on the government, security agencies and well meaning citizens of the state to come to their rescue, as they are now living in palpable fear as they do not know who would be the next victim of assassination in the family.
They lamented that they have not been able to come together to discussed the funeral ceremony of their late father who was killed on July 10m 2016 in his residence at Egor Local Government Area, Edo State.
“It appears the security agents are really helpless in unravelling the culprits of the assassination and bring them to justice”, the source added.
As at the time of filing in this report, the whereabouts of Fredrick could not be ascertained as the police have reportedly advised him to go into hiding for the safety of his life.
