Benin City: Authority of the Nigerian Police,Edo State Command has declared one Omoregie Friday wanted over his alleged involvement in homosexuality.
Omoregie Friday now at large was said to have been found engaged in the illicit sexual behaviour with another man identified as Osayande on February 15,2016 by some vigilante youth in an uncompleted building at Ogida Quarters in Benin City.
The said alleged homosexuals were said to have been beaten almost to death by the angry youths of the area before the arrival of the Nigerian Police.
According to sources, the vigilante youth alleged to the police that One Omoregie Friday who was caught with late Osayande escaped from the uncompleted building through window while his partner Osayande was not that lucky as he died of injuries sustained from the beating before doctors could attend to him in the hospital he was rushed to as he initially denied vehemently any involvement in the crime before he later admitted which culminated in declaring him (Omoregie Friday) wanted over his alleged complicity.
However, the distraught Osayande’s family has vowed to kill Omoregie Friday if they see him.
The Police Command has vowed to arrest him to face criminal charges over his alleged involvement in sexual practices, an offence contrary to the same-sex Prohibition Act of 2014 that prescribes 14 years jail term for offenders and their collaborators.
The Police urged members of the public to give any useful information that could lead to his arrest.
