Lagos- A young man Ibrahim Olawaseun was in the early hours of yesterday almost beaten to death by an angry mob in Olayemi Village, Ayobo, Lagos.
The mob who were majorly youths chanted in their dialect as they continued to hit the young man with big sticks and cutlasses.
One of the youths (name withheld) who spoke to our Lagos State Correspondent alleged that the man was caught having sex with another young man who escaped from the scene of the incident.
“Homosexuality is a huge crime and a forbidden thing in this village. Any one caught in the act will be beaten and thereafter burnt alive. This one here (pointing at the man) will never go free; he must be burnt alive as culture demands “. He reacted.
On close interview, the young man(suspect)who told our Correspondent that his name was Ibrahim Olawaseun and hailed from Olayemi Village, Ayobo, Lagos narrated his ordeal in the hands of the mob.
” I was having fun with my lover, Ahmed Idowu when they broke into my room and pulled us apart. They started beating us but Ahmed managed to escape. I don’t want to be burnt alive. I am a young man with prospect. I don’t want to die because of cultural beliefs. Please help me. The feeling between me and Ahmed is mutual; we love each other so much.” He screamed.
In a twist of fate, the angry youths took to their heels as Security Operatives in the Village approached while Ibrahim scampered for safety.
