BENIN CITY -Armed men suspected to be political thugs allegedly attacked and opened fire on a moving vehicle along Sapele Road, Benin City on August 10, 2019.
It was gathered that the gunmen open fire on the moving vehicle resulting in the vehicle somersaulting several times leading to the death of the driver, while the other occupant of the vehicle was taken to the hospital.
It was further gathered that the other occupants of the vehicle, was Mr. Idoghor Matthew Okposo, who is the husband of Mrs. Idoghor Esther Ahuruole who was the woman leader of People’s Democratic Party (PDP) Ward 2, Oredo local government Area, Edo State. Mrs. Idoghor was in December 2018 attacked by some alleged political thugs of the All Progressives Congress (APC). Though the allegation was denied by the
APC members.
The Edo State Police Public Relations Office (PPRO) DSP Chidi Nwabuzor confirmed the incident and said that the corps of the driver have been deposited in the morgue while further investigation regarding the incident is on going
