DELTA STATE -The clampdown by the federal government on alleged members of the Eastern Security Network of Biafra(ESN),the security wing of the Indigenous Peoples of Biafra(IPOB), is on the rise,as soldiers invaded one of ESN camps in Illah,Oshimili North Local Government Area, Delta State.About eight persons were killed, nineteen arrested, while thirteen persons, including two brothers, Mordi Chuks and Mordi John, who are the owners of the property, that was used as the camp, escaped.
Investigation reveals that the camp base is owned by the Mordi family.The property was given to the IPOB as camp to the Eastern Security Network(ESN) by Mordi Chuks, whose father was killed by Fulani herdsmen in the March 13, 2016 attack on Tarka Community,Benue State, where properties and lives were lost.
It was gathered that Chuks, an activist and member of the Indigenous Peoples of Biafra, is into solar business like his late father,he relocated to Uwheru in Ughelli, Delta State after the killing of ct father.In February,2020, when Fulani herdsmen attacked Uwheru community,killing several persons and destroyed properties worth millions of naria.Two of Hillary workers were also killed.
It was further gathered that chuks, who is an active member activist of IPOB, relocated to his hometown, Illah,which has had it’s own fair share of herders attacks.He gave the family house in Illah to IPOB, to be used as ESN camp.
The attacks on various camps in different parts of the Eastern region and the killings of alleged ESN members by security agents made several young men including Mordi Chuks to flee for their lives.
The attack in Illah Community by soldiers on the orders of the federal government has completely devastated the land as several properties were destroyed and several people killed.Several persons have disappeared including chuks brothers, Mordi Ugochukwu Michael and Mordi John Daniel, since the military attacks in Illah. ESN camps were set up in Imo, Anambra, Ebonyi and Enugu States
Eastern Security Network(ESN) was set up by the IPOB leader,Nnamdi Kanu on December 26,2020.It objective is to protect the Eastern region and its people from the constant attacks and killings by Fulani herdsmen in the Eastern region.
Mordi Chuks whereabout is unknown as he has fled for his life.
