BENIN CITY : A lady described by the police as a chronic lesbian has been arrested by the police in Benin City.
The suspect whose name was simply given as Sarah was allegedly caught with her partner while engaging in the illicit sexual act inside an uncompleted building in the Egor area of the city.

Reports from the area said however that one of the suspects identified as Sandra Adeniyi escaped from the scene before the arrival of men of the Ogida Police Division who were alerted on the illicit sexual escapade of the two ladies in the area.

Investigations by our crime reporter revealed that the two ladies were regularly seen hanging out inside the uncompleted and uninhabited building which prompted a resident in the neighborhood to become suspicious of their activities.

Nemesis however caught up with the two lesbian suspects on February 14, 2016 when the curious resident stormed the building minutes after he had seen them entered the place.

Perplexed by what he saw as both ladies were allegedly naked and caressing each passionately, the man immediately raised an alarm despite their pleading to let them go unnoticed.

One of the lesbian suspects, Sandra Adeniyi however allegedly broke loose from the man’s grip and fled the scene before some other persons arrived. The police were later called in and the suspect handed over to them for investigations and probable prosecution.

Meanwhile, members of the local vigilante group and the police have reportedly launched a manhunt for the fleeing lesbian suspect, Sandra Adeniyi. The police in a statement, appealed to members of the public with any useful information that might lead to the arrest of Sandra Adeniyi to report to the nearest police station within and outside the state.

Homosexuality, lesbianism or same- sex relationship is considered an abomination and forbidden by many ethnic groups in Nigeria.

It is also a criminal offence and offenders if found guilty by the law court, are liable to spend 10 to 14 years in prison.

A recent survey shows that there has been an alarming increase of cases of homosexuality and lesbianism in Nigeria. Reports also indicate that LGTB persons have become targets of mob attacks , police arrests and brutality.

In July 2015, over twenty youths were arrested in a night club in Lagos. The police said the place had become notorious for homosexual activities. The suspects were later charged to court for unlawful gathering and sodomy
