BENIN CITY- The Nigerian Correctional Service (NCS), have declared wanted 15 inmates who were amongst the over 1900 imates that escaped from its two correctional facilities in Benin City, the Edo State Capital during the October 19, 2020 #EndSARS protest that engulfed the country.
The names of the 15 inmates as given by the Edo State Public Relations Officer of the NCS, Pius Aigbe, are; Peter Oboh, 29 ‘m’, Chidi Uzor, 36 ‘m’, Imafidon Emmanuel, 34 ‘m’, Collins Osasu, 42 ‘m’, Odion Stephen, ‘m’, Omoregie Andrewbeat, ‘m’, Tony Ralph, ‘m’, Ojo Akpan, 25, ‘m’ Wilcox Tamuno, 46 ‘m’, Gabriel Tunde, 27 ‘m’, Omosigho Love, ‘m’, Preye Stone, 33 ‘m’, a.k.a killer, Pedro Osas, ‘m’, Uyi Osato, 32 ‘m’ and Winifred Best, ‘m’.
Addressing journalists at the State Headquarters in Benin City, Aigbe informed that the fleeing inmates were involved in high profile murder, robbery cases, adding that their trials were already ongoing at various Courts in the state before their escape.
He revealed further that some of the escapees who have been in prison custody for over three years were fingered to have murdered Mr. Bright Stanley, a Benin City based business Marchant and one Amadin Ohen, who until his death was resident in the same Community (Uteh) with one of the fleeing inmates between May 13, 2017 and July 10, 2017.
He said disclosed that some of the fleeing inmates have been rearrested by men and officers of the Nigeria Police Force and other security agents, just as he said that some of the masterminders of the jail break have also been arrested by security agents.
Aigbe, however appealed to members of the public who may have useful information that would lead to the rearrest of the fleeing inmates to approach any security formation in the country, assuring that such information would be treated in strict confidentiality.
Recall that the Edo State Governor, Mr. Godwin Obaseki, has advised the all fleeing inmates during the two jail break to report back to Oko and Benin central Correctional centres with two weeks, or would face stiffer penalties when rearrested.
