OKADA – The incessant attack by suspected Muslim terrorists, who act under the guise of Fulani cattle herders in Odiguetue village, Ovia North East Local Government Area, Edo State has continued unabated. Their actions has led to the formation of various security outfit like the local Hunters security and the E Surveillance and Security Services Vigilante.
It was reliably gathered that some members of the E Surveillance and Security Services Vigilante have given the Fulani herdsmen a battle for their money as they have succeeded in chasing most of them out of the forest in the community and they have been helping the security personnels with useful information about the locations and activities of the herders
It was also learnt that one of the vigilante members Ibizugbe Nelson, who lost his father and farmland to the herders in Odiguetue in one of their attacks, is among the vigilante members that have ran for his life .He was targeted by the herders as being one of the vigilante members making life unbearable for the herders activities in the locality
In a reprisal attack by the herders last week, three members of the vigilante. Osaro, Charles and Osarobo were killed while Nelson and three other members escape death by whiskers. The houses of Nelson’s and two other members of the vigilante group were burnt down
While the whereabouts of Ibizugbe Nelson is unknown as he has fled for his life, some members have the vigilante group and others youths have also fled Odiguetue and neighboring community as their security and safety cannot be guaranteed by the government . Numerous attacks by the Fulani herders which have been a reoccurring issues have not been stopped by government.
This necessitated the formation of E Surveillance and Security Services Vigilante and the Hunters Guard as the villagers could not go to their farms because of the incessant attacks, kidnapping and raping of women.
