Benin city – The Edo State Essential Drugs Programme and the procurement unit of the Hospital’s management Board have been re-engineered and strengthened to provide continuous availability of quality medicines and other healthcare products at affordable price. Disclosing this yesterday while inaugurating the State Logistics Management Co-ordination unit at her office, the State Commissioner for Health, Dr. (Mrs.) Aihanuwa Eregie said the State Governor, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole’s led administration would continue to support all effort that would ensure access of Edo people to good, quality safe and effective medicines and other healthcare products in the interest of public Health.
According to her, “The activities of the state logistics working Group is expected to bring about a co-ordinate supply chain system as well as an uninterrupted availability of healthcare commodities and improved logistics management information system that would enhanced quality drug services.
Dr. Eregie further stated that the membership of the unit are draw from the pool of officers in both the ministry of Health are Hospital’s Management Board who are directly involved in product supply management.
According to her, the officers are to be trained and empowered to carryout supply chain and logistics related activities more efficiently.
The commissioner, who urged the member to see their membership of the unit as a call to duty, also charged them to do their best as well as be committed to duty so that together, the state’s supply chain would be strengthened towards ensuring healthcare commodity security.
Speaking on behalf of the newly inaugurated unit, the Director, Pharmaceutical Services, Hospital’s Management Board, Dr. Eugiene Udebu thanked the commissioner for the opportunity given to them to serve the state.
He promised to put their wealth of experience into practice towards ensuring improved logistics management information system of healthcare communities in the state.
