ABUJA – The National Assembly is ready to support the anti-corruption efforts of the Federal Government, a consultant to the National Assembly, Victor Walsh, has said.
Walsh said this in an interview with journalists yesterday in Abuja against the backdrop of the ongoing war against corruption by the Buhari Administration.
According to him, the time has come for all arms of government to synergise and come up with strategies to win the war against corruption.
He said a two-day Anti-corruption Conference being organised by the National Assembly and the Presidential Advisory Committee on Anti-corruption on Oct. 18 showed the legislators’ support to the anti-corruption agenda.
Walsh said the forthcoming conference with the full support of the legislature was an indication that the parliament had nothing against the Federal Government’s anti-corruption war.
According to him, the conference will bring together the leadership of the National Assembly and the Presidency on the crucial issue of anti-corruption war.
Walsh explained that the conference would be declared open by President Muhammadu Buhari, while leading anti-corruption crusader, Prof. Patrick Lumumba of Kenya, would be the Lead Discussant.
Walsh, who is also the Director-General of African Development Study Centre, Abuja, said the conference would take place at the Nigerian Air Force Conference Centre, Abuja.
NAN reports that the conference comes on the heels of the recent arrest of Judges by the Department of State Services (DSS) over alleged corrupt practices.
