The National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA), Edo State, says the Federal Government launched the GIF-SHIP program to ensure that no one is left behind in its drive for inclusive universal health coverage.
The Authority made this known during a Street Storm Awareness session in Benin City where Edo people from different walks of life were sensitized on the importance of enrolling under the health programs.
The NHIA State Coordinator, Amb. Theodore Osas-Ehanire said the Street Storm was particularly targeted at the informal sector to drive inclusivity and encourage Edo people.
Some of the residents who participated and won in the NHIA Free Registration Contest, and would enjoy one year free health insurance coverage, commended the NHIA for the initiative.
The NHIA seeks to mobilize and pool financial resources the for strategic purchase of affordable and quality healthcare for all Nigerians.
The street storm/social marketing started from the NHIA Edo State office along Sapele Road, Benin City to Ekiosa (Osa Market) where major sensitization took place.
The highlight of the programme was the gifting out of GIFSHIP registration for a year to four favored beneficiaries who participated in the raffle draw.
