…administers matriculation oath on 8,130 new students for 2023/2024 academic session
The newly admitted students of Auchi Polytechnic have been advised to always cross-check from the office of the Students Affairs Division for the approved clubs or society before joining any one in the school.
The Rector, Auchi Polytechnic, Dr Salisu Shehu Umar, gave the advice during the oath taking and 42nd matriculation ceremony of the polytechnic, saying the polytechnic has zero tolerance for cultism, cult related activities, any form of hooliganism and corruption.
He warned that management frown at membership of cult groups adding that, as they settle down for their studies, they should avoid anything that would be a perpetual distraction to their academic pursuit.
While congratulating them for being the successful ones to be admitted into the polytechnic, he said a total number of 8,130, which comprised 4,380 National Diploma (ND) and 3,750 Higher National Diploma (HND), were admitted for the 2023/2024 academic session.
He said today marked the official entry of every students into higher institution of learning, saying that it is a significant event in their lives as it is a statutory gathering to formerly admit deserving and qualified candidate who are fortunate to be offered admission into the polytechnic.
He reminded them that the oath they have taken is to be obedient to the Rector and all those in authority and to also be of good behaviour throughout their stay in the polytechnic.
According to him, Auchi Polytechnic have continued to focus on her pursuit of excellent in teaching, research, innovation and service to the society, and urged them to key into the vision of quality education, intellectual enquiry, curiosity and resilience.
He therefore assured the students that the polytechnic have put everything in place for them to learn and achieve their set academic goals, adding that as a foremost technical and vocational institution in the South South zone, the polytechnic have added additional 22 new programmes making a total of 59 academic programmes in the school.
“These programmes were recently floated to cater for some core skills, knowledge and competencies gap that existed within the country,” he said.
While assuring them of maximum security on campus, he however pleaded that they should not hesitate to report any suspicious activities to the Dean of Students Affairs, Deans, HoDs and any security officer.
