The chairman, who disclosed that the dam was provided with 12 bags of alum, 14 bags of hydrated lime and 3 drums of chlorine for treatment of water, promised to carry out immediate repairs on broken pipes that were discovered during initial pumping of the water.

“We are carrying out palliative work on this facility to boost water supply to Igarra and environs. We are in talks with stakeholders because as a council, we are not able to carry out serious reticulation right now because it is capital intensive.

“As we are addressing the leakages, we will also find ways of connecting taps for more access to water and lessen water pressure from the main pipe to forestall possible damages,” he said.

The chairman decried the indiscriminate dumping of refuse on water ways, while also inspecting a bridge by the Momodu Ajaiye Road that was undergoing rehabilitation.
